Sofia + John: love under Algarve’s skies

We travelled down south to the Algarve, to the stunning region of Albufeira, to photograph a truly special couple. She's Portuguese, originally from the north, and he's from Liverpool. These days, they live together in the UK with their adorable 6-month-old baby boy and their sweet little dog.

Their love for Portugal — especially the southern coast — runs deep, so it only felt right for them to return here to celebrate their love story. They're getting married in Portugal, and chose to do their pre-wedding shoot in the very place that captured their hearts.

Even though it was a season of rain and rougher seas, the golden sun showed up just in time, wrapping our session in its warm, soft light. We started at the scenic São Rafael beach, walking along the cliffs where you can truly feel the ocean, the breeze, the stillness of nature — and the emotion of it all. After this calm and heartfelt stroll, we made our way down to the sand, where we explored the beautiful, rugged rock formations unique to this beach. There were hugs, laughter, a few playful moments — and just like that, Sofia and John opened up and showed us who they truly are together.

Next, we headed to another beach that holds a very special meaning for them — Praia dos Salgados. We started with a quiet walk through the dunes. They talked, shared soft glances, gentle touches — those little moments where you’re simply grateful to love and be loved. As the sun dipped lower in the sky, they moved closer to the sea. There was movement, splashing, playfulness — and a sense of peace as they stood watching the last golden light fade into the ocean.
